Display
The display modes manage the appearance of viewports.
Display modes are fully customizable, from the background color to the geometry edge thicknesses.
These are the standard Display modes that Rhino and Lands Design provide:
Conceptual
Attractive display mode that improves the lighting settings, show real-time silhouette and the contour of curved surfaces, apply a thickness variation for contours and provide a transparency control of objects by layer.

Realistic
The Realistic display mode shows the textures of objects and activate the shadows. It adds a 4 color gradient background.
Wireframe
Sets the viewport display to unshaded wireframe.

Shaded
Sets the viewport to opaque shaded mode. Shaded mode uses a mesh to shade surfaces using the layer colors.

Rendered
Shades the viewport with a simulation of the rendered view.

Ghosted
Sets viewport display so surfaces are translucent.

Hidden
It is the display mode aimed to show architectural drawings. Uses real-time silhouettes, creases and borders. Objects behind other objects are occluded. Hidden display mode it’s a kind of advanced Technical display mode. It works faster, object selection works only for visible edges, which makes the selection more convinient, and objects show all grip points when they are enabled (visible and occluded).

X-Ray
Shades with isoparametric curves not obscured by objects in front. All wireframe and point objects are displayed, even if they would normally be hidden by surfaces that are in front of them in the viewport.

Technical
Uses real-time silhouettes and intersections, creases, borders, blended shaded and rendered display. Objects behind other objects are occluded.

Artistic
Uses an image background and soft lines to create a pencil drawing effect.

Pen
Uses white with black lines to simulate a pen drawing.

Custom
Display modes can be imported, exported and customized by several parameters:
- Lights
- Shadows
- Background (from image file, solid color, gradients 2 and 4 colors, transparent or using render settings).
- Visibility options to show or hide isocurves, mesh wires, curves, lights, clipping planes, texts, annotations, points, pointclouds…
- Object settings (for curves, surfaces, polysurfaces, meshes…): colors, edge thicknesses, isocurves…
- Grid settings.
